Fowler Ridge 2 is Sempra Renewables’ 200-megawatt (MW) wind farm located in Benton County, Indiana. A joint venture with BP Wind Energy, the 17,000-acre wind installation was Sempra Renewables’ first operational wind power facility.
Situated on gently rolling farmland, Fowler Ridge 2 capitalizes on its ideal location for wind generation. The project was completed in 2009 and generates enough clean electricity to power approximately 47,000 typical Indiana homes. A total of 400 workers at peak installed the 133 SG SLE wind turbines, each with a rated capacity of 1.5 MW. The power from Fowler Ridge 2 is sold under four longterm 50-MW contracts; three with American Electric Power and one with Vectren Energy Delivery of Indiana.
