Jointly owned by Sempra Renewables and Consolidated Edison Development, the 75-megawatt (MW) Broken Bow II wind farm is located in wind-rich Custer County, Nebraska. Broken Bow II provides a new source of clean electricity and an economic boost to surrounding communities.
The project created about 300 construction jobs during peak construction, which began in February 2014, and seven full-time positions. Broken Bow II began commercial operation in October 2014 and utilizes 43 wind turbines to generate enough electricity to power about 26,500 Nebraska homes.
The entire output from the wind farm has been sold to the Nebraska Public Power District under a 25-year contract.
