Sempra Renewables is led by a team of innovative energy professionals who have decades of combined experience in electric power generation, development, transmission and storage, and operations.
Robert Borthwick is general manager of Sempra Renewables, overseeing all aspects of the company’s renewable energy business segment, including development, finance, construction and operations, as well as supporting the sale of its U.S. wind and solar assets.
Borthwick has served in various capacities at Sempra Energy over the last fifteen years. Most recently, he was vice president and general counsel at Sempra Infrastructure, LLC, where he led the legal, environmental, health & safety, regulatory, human resources and external affairs groups supporting both Sempra Renewables and Sempra LNG & Midstream. Borthwick was previously vice president and general counsel for Sempra U.S. Gas & Power, and before that associate general counsel for Sempra Energy.
Prior to joining Sempra Energy, he practiced law at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP in Los Angeles and served as a federal prosecutor in the United States Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles.
Borthwick received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School. He serves on the board of directors of Serving Seniors, a charitable organization that provides meals and housing to low-income seniors in San Diego.
Vice President, Business Development and Structuring
Glen Donovan is vice president of business development at Sempra Renewables, responsible for renewable project finance, mergers and acquisitions. Previously, Donovan was responsible for renewable contract origination.
Donovan has held several corporate finance roles within Sempra Energy, including director of investor relations and overseeing the company’s planning & analysis function. Prior to joining Sempra Energy, Donovan held various financial roles within the high-tech industry.
Donovan received a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Connecticut and a master’s degree in business administration-finance from San Diego State University.
Vice President, Infrastructure and Technology
Patrick T. Lee is vice president of infrastructure and technology at Sempra Infrastructure, LLC, a subsidiary of Sempra Energy. Lee now leads PXiSE Energy Solutions, LLC, which is developing high-speed advanced grid control technology to meet the evolving needs of the modern energy ecosystem.
Prior to his current role, Lee held various positions within the Sempra Energy family of companies starting in 1991 as an engineer, and progressing to various director to senior level vice president positions. His duties have included oversight and governance for large construction projects, operations, maintenance, procurement, performance management, innovation and business strategy.
Before starting at the Sempra Energy family of companies, Lee worked for the Sacramento Municipal Utility District and the City of Roseville, Calif. Lee is a council member of the California Council on Science and Technology and an advisory trustee for the California State Parks Foundation. He is the treasurer and finance committee chair of the IEEE Smart Village and serves on the council of advisors for the Jacobs School of Engineering at the University of California, San Diego.
Lee graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from San Diego State University and holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from California State University, Sacramento. He also is a registered professional electrical engineer in California.
Managing Director, Operations Center
Reuben Rosen is managing director – Operations Center for Sempra Infrastructure, LLC. In this role, Rosen is responsible for leading Sempra Infrastructure, LLC’s asset portfolio trading team, which includes power and gas trading and logistics supporting Sempra Renewables and Sempra LNG & Midstream.
Previously, Rosen was head of risk and structuring for the Operations Center and served as an attorney leading significant project development, finance and merger and acquisition transactions across the Sempra Energy family of companies. Prior to joining Sempra, Rosen was an attorney with Latham & Watkins.
Rosen holds a law degree from Yale Law School, a master’s degree from Stanford University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, San Diego, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was admitted to Phi Beta Kappa. He is a member of the California Bar.
